Some bugs smell funny. Why? Is it because they never have baths? In this episode of Bug Hunter! entomologist Morgane investigates the different smells some bugs emit and asks: why do they need to be so stinky? In the southern hemisphere, we’ll examine the Green Vegetable bug, and the Brown Soldier Bug. In the northern hemisphere, we study the brown marmorated stink bug. When this species is touched, it produces a strong defensive smell. These stinky smells are used primarily as defense mechanisms to deter predators and warn other bugs of danger.
