Shuswaggi, a mysterious lake creature, has been sighted in BC’s Shuswap Lake near Copper Island - a large serpent-like or giant eel-like creature. Hayley heads to the Okanagan to investigate. Ed Jensen, Tk’emlups te Secwépemc knowledge keeper, tells traditional stories of underwater mysteries. Hamish Kassa, environmental services coordinator for the Columbia Shuswap Regional District, describes reports of sightings of shuswaggi. Les Loren and Brodie Blair describe their 2019 sighting while fishing. Duane and Ronnie Severn think that the dark hump they sighted might have been a Cadborosaurus or a basilosaurus, ancient sea serpents. Ralph McBryan, traditional Shuswap storyteller and knowledge keeper, says Shuswaggi is said to be there to protect Copper Island.
