Dogs, descendants of a Eurasian wolf, are in many indigenous legends and oral histories. Hayley investigates indigenous societies such as the Cheyenne Dog Soldier and the Blackfoot Brave Dog starting with the photographer who captured the stunning image, titled "Dog Soldier”, showing an indigenous pow wow dancer. Dog Soldiers protected their society as dogs protect their communities.

Duane Mistaken Chief, a Kainai Elder, talks about the importance of dogs in the Blackfoot culture. They pulled loads on travois and warned of impending danger. Blackfoot dog societies are exclusive warrior groups who protect and police the tribe. Haley visits a dog trainer, then meets Herman Yellow Old Woman, a Siksika Nation elder in Alberta. Dogs have long been part of sacred Blackfoot ceremonies and are treated with respect. Doc concludes with a Blackfoot story, “More than a Man’s Best Friend”.
