We look at Te Ao Māori, the Māori world view of the interconnectedness and interrelationship of all living & non-living things. We explore how a Matauranga lens could be applied to marine protection going forward and how traditional and dynamic practices like rahui are able to move more quickly than government policy to protect certain species.

An engaging feature length documentary series that looks at the degradation of New Zealand’s most populous harbour - the Hauraki Gulf – New Zealand’s only marine park and explores what steps can be taken to save it from the brink of collapse both in terms of sea life and pollution. One solution may be going back to sustainable indigenous Maori fishing methods.
