One of Saturn's moons, Enceladus, shocked scientists when they discovered that it was geologically active, releasing water-vapor plumes into space. That discovery by NASA’s spacecraft Cassini changed the mission plan as scientists concluded that Enceladus may have the key ingredients for life. It started a scientific detective story, motivating ideas for future lander/submersible missions after Cassini’s 2017 end.
