Enoch Cree Nation, on the outskirts of Edmonton, Alberta, is a community driven by a new generation of members who are finding their voice and taking a stand. Kenny, Jaizy and Taeja are navigating their personal and cultural identities, overcoming challenges, and establishing initiatives and programs that empower young people and create positive change in their community.
Taeja overcomes bullying and self‑harm, finds acceptance after coming out, and becomes a strong advocate for LGBTQ2S+ youth and cultural pride. Jaizy draws on family teachings and personal loss to mentor younger youth, promote sobriety, and strengthen cultural connection. Kenny rebuilds his confidence after years of anxiety, bullying, and drug use, finding purpose through Project 30, gaining full‑time work, and stepping into leadership roles.
Elders and the community support them as they work towards a brighter future for Enoch. Together, they help shape new youth‑led spaces—safe homes, cultural programs, and community initiatives—showing how empowered young people can transform their nation and support one another to grow and flourish.
