Battle of the Little Big Puck explores a unique southwest Saskatchewan hockey tradition that began more than 40 years ago when members of the Nekaneet First Nation and local cowboys came together to create a friendly rivalry on the ice. What started as an idea around a tavern table became an enduring community event, offering a window into the relationships, humour and shared traditions that connect neighbouring cultures in rural Saskatchewan.

The Backroad Stories series focuses on how individuals and small communities across rural Saskatchewan interact with the land, preserve traditions, and foster a deep sense of belonging. It explores human connection, culture, and resilience.
