In a world impacted by anthropogenic climate change, Bangladesh has been particularly hard-hit by worsening weather and rising sea levels. As the country's north, in the shadow of the Himalayas, is hit by increasingly-frequent and more powerful floods, and the south faces increasingly-violent and unpredictable cyclones, thousands of Bangladeshi climate refugees head to the teeming capital of Dhaka and its immense slums. But here their problems are just beginning, as real-estate speculators seek to evict them from their shacks. Telling their stories helps us understand the problems we face as a global community.
