Nathan Shirley is a young Navaho hockey player who turned to coaching in his early twenties. Back in 2018, he worked with an organization called Hockey Without Borders and coached some young teenagers in Bosnia for three months. Today, these players are young men and are living the dream of representing their country at an international hockey tournament being held in Istanbul, Turkey.
In the Good Game series, former NHLer John Chabot, a native of Kitigan Zibi reserve in Quebec, travels the country to understand the place that hockey holds in the collective life of Canada’s Indigenous peoples.
